From the end of November until the first week of January, Klondyke Cherry Farm invites you, your family and some friends to spend a day of fun-filled (and bountiful) cherry picking in the fruitful Ceres valley situated 45 km from Tulbagh.
Held on the working Klondyke Farm, which grows pears and apples too, the cherry-picking experience offers you the choice of numerous varieties, which differ according to the season.
After paying a R20 entrance fee per person (free for children under five years), you will receive a container, which you are welcome to fill to the brim with these delicious ruby-tinged beauties.
Between picking, take time out to explore the picturesque orchards and, when you’re done, have your container weighed (cherries cost R50 per kilogram). Credit Card facilities now available.
Make a day of it by packing a picnic or bringing along meat to braai – there’s no better way to spend a summer’s day than enjoying the “fruits of your labour” under the cool shade of a pine tree. It gets pretty windy down Ceres way, so remember to bring a warm jersey or windbreaker.
The farm is open every day (except 25 December) throughout the season from 8.30am to 4.30pm.
